Cisco's Duo Security Team Launches Zero-Trust Initiative from A2 HQ

Cisco's Duo Security division, headquartered in downtown Ann Arbor, has launched "Duo Trust Fabric," a comprehensive zero-trust security platform that the company describes as the most significant product release since its $2.35 billion acquisition by Cisco in 2018. The platform, developed entirely by the Ann Arbor engineering team, integrates device trust, identity verification, and continuous access monitoring into a unified solution.

"Duo Trust Fabric represents four years of R&D by our Ann Arbor team," said Duo Security GM Dug Song, who co-founded the company in Ann Arbor in 2010. "This is a product that could only have been built here, with the caliber of security talent that the University of Michigan and this ecosystem produce. We had over 150 engineers working on this across our Ashley Street and Main Street offices."

The new platform targets enterprise customers managing hybrid work environments, offering automated security posture assessment and real-time threat response. Early access customers include three Fortune 100 companies, and Cisco expects the product to generate over $200 million in annual recurring revenue within its first two years.

The launch coincides with Cisco's commitment to expand the Duo Ann Arbor team by 100 positions over the next year, focusing on security engineering, threat research, and product management roles. The company recently completed a renovation of its downtown offices at 123 North Ashley Street, adding a new security operations center and expanded collaboration spaces. "Ann Arbor is and will remain the heart of Duo," Song emphasized. "This city's DNA is in every line of code we write."
